Description
Design Story:
Julianne is an artist from Ampilatwatja and paints bush medicine plants and types of native flora found there. The artists of this small community north-east from Alice Springs have developed their own style to represent country and the resources that exist there.
With associations of a niave style, the paintings take a high vantage point to look down on the lands, sometimes seeing through multiple horizon lines into the distance. The colours enliven the bush and bring everything into intense scrutiny and contrast. Minute details of plants and geology are recorded and we see how the bush is divided into diverse areas through the types of plants and rocks that dominate these micro climates.
