History of Flying Fox Fabrics

Flying Fox Fabrics was established in 2019 by Felicity Wright after more than 30 years working in and with remote community art centres and Indigenous Australian artists. It came out of a project she facilitated for 6 years for Injalak Arts in Oenpelli (Gunbalanya) from 2013. Following a two year Australian Volunteers International placement as a Business Management Adviser in Phnom Penh from 2010-12 she forged partnerships with key disability ‘handicraft’ organisations in Cambodia. Felicity then began taking small amounts of Aboriginal designed and printed fabrics to Cambodia where the partners made accessories. The products were beautifully made and limited edition so they quickly found an appreciative audience.
